Monaragala Project Office Opening

Oxfam in Sri Lanka, partnering with ADRA, LEADS and Save the Children, marked the opening of the new Oxfam office in Monaragala. The office houses both ACCEND (Assisting Communities in Creating Environmental and Nutritional Development) and EGSD (Enhancing Gender inclusive Socio-economic Development in Central Uva Provinces) project staff. Both projects are funded by the European Union in collaboration with the Government of Sri Lanka and focus on the development of health and hygiene as well as the reduction of poverty in rural communities in the area, respectively.
Oxfam Country Director, Bojan Kolundzija, District Secretary (Monaragala)  and Regional Director of Health Services (Monaragala) Dr. P.D.K Adikari were present at the opening. Over fifty members representing the District Secretary, government organizations, NGOS and well wishers, attended the opening ceremony which was held on the 18th of January, 2018. The Country Director, project directors and managers, provided a comprehensive inroduction to the projects, highlighting on what the teams hope to achieve within the years to come.
